Join us for the 37th annual Zena Sutherland Lecture “Why Comic Books Matter” presented by Gene Luen Yang. The Sutherland Lecture honors the late Zena Sutherland, Professor Emeritus and retired editor of the “Bulletin of the Center for Children’s Books.” This event is intended for educators, librarians, teachers and other interested adults.

Enter via the Plymouth Court entrance of the Harold Washington Library Center (401 S. Plymouth Ct.), as the building will be closed to the public at 5 pm. Doors will open at 6:45 pm. General admission seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. The event will begin promptly at 7:30 pm. Seats that are unclaimed by 7:20 p.m. may be forfeited.

Please note that books will not be sold at this event, and there will be no author signing or photographs.
