I’m playing around with a new drawing/inking style in preparation for a graphic novel I’m about to draw. I want to capture the spirit of later Charles Schulz, when he inked with that unstable line.  There’s something beautiful and intimate about that line– I think it’d be perfect for my story.  I hung out with some of the Schulz Associates about a month ago and they told me that the shaky line was completely unintentional.  He had a stroke and wasn’t able to hold his pen steady after.  I was shocked.  I thought he was doing it on purpose, as a way of getting to that intimacy.  Shows what a consummate cartoonist he was.
